What does a diver do?

Executes underwater activities related to construction, installation, repairs, maintenance, demolition, and inspection of underwater equipment or structures May perform underwater welding, oxygen cutting, carpentry, cement laying, electrical work, plumbing, or blasting May perform related work (for example, recovery of various objects)

The diver may be equipped with a self-contained or non-self-contained, limited or unlimited breathing apparatus 

Prepare to erect walls, floors, roofs.

What does it take to become a diver?

EXCELLENT PHYSICAL CONDITION – AUTONOMY – CAREFULNESS – LEADERSHIP – COMPOSURE INTEREST in acquiring knowledge related to application of concepts of mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, construction, and electricity APTITUDE for moving heavy objects Divers are often faced with critical or unforeseen situations. They must work in environments that involve specific risks, such as confined spaces, underwater currents, contaminated water, ice, and changes in pressure. Low visibility and water temperature are other difficulties that divers experience.

Academic prerequisites

There are different options for accessing the training program

Be at least 18 years old at the time training begins

AND 

  • Hold a secondary school diploma

OR

  • Hold a vocational studies diploma

AND

  • Hold a Level 1 recreational diving certificate
  • Hold a class A licence (certification of qualification in underwater diving)
  • Obtain a medical certificate issued by a physician specializing in diving
